propeller shaft bearing support shims/washers (thickness)

how critical is the thickness of the washers for the propeller shaft (driveshaft) bearing support brackets?

i read something about it in the supplemental FSM for the AWD bg's, but i can"t
remember off the top of my head what it said, when i have the book in front of me tom. i can post more info.

I'd have to do the same thing, man.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

i was hoping u would chime in, when i pulled the driveshaft i kept everything
in order on a tray, but that was a while back and i had to fix some other peoples
cars and they got moved and then mixed up + they are rusted pretty bad too.
i think i will post this same ? on the yahoo gtx forums also.
i know the bf gtx is a 2 piece and the bg awd is a 3 piece driveshaft, but im
assuming they are the same principal when i comes to mounting.

I used rubber grommets and fender washers to make new ones for my protege... haven't had any weird vibration or drive train shudder/noise and I've put 11k miles on the thing since I've owned it.

Ya know, come to think of it, I bet they aren't mission critical. Mount it up. Make sure the car is level and crawl under there with a level. If the propshaft is as level as the car is, great, if not, shim it where it's high and call it good. We eyeballed the Toyota propshaft, got it pretty darn close, but it ain'y perfect and there's no vibe or any oddness at least up to 100...

I drive the thing everywhere, through all the RPM ranges and around town and through back roads that you would think were part of a rallycross event... swerving around deer and through snow too...
