    My 89' 323 GT Worklog

Figured i'd start a worklog for my new 323 GT, i just picked up the car last night from Durwood, we traded cars again lol as of right now, i'm told the piston rings are toast and it will need a new engine, although the current one still runs so i can at least move it around in the driveway without pushing it lol

So here's a few pics from today, please excuse how dirty it is, it was raining/snowing on the way home last night

So the current plans are to (obviously) get another engine for it, i have seriously considered swapping in a KL since i have one sitting on my engine stand, but since its a rare car, it almost wouldn't be right, so i'm going to look into another B6T, or possibly upgrade to a BPT, i'm more or less just going to weigh out the options and go from there

2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Ive located another B6T for $200, so that what I'll be doing to get it up and running and to get it on the road, I'm planning to pick it up, probably mid-january so there most likely won't be much updates til then

I've also tossed around the idea of building a FWD rotary, but that's up in the air too

FWD rotary would be cool, but the engine would need to be clocked as the exhaust ports exit are were the cv axles are if it was level. I have tossed the thought around too, figured an E153 swap at the same time since an adapter plate would be needed to clock the engine.

Back on topic, for the price of the other B6T that would be the way to go.

Oh no worries, I'd be prepared for a custom exhaust manifold as well if I followed through with a rotary swap, maybe if I get a CAD drawing of an RX7 bell housing (already have a KL one) I may follow through with it in the future, but for now it's a pipe dream

Dam it...... I mentioned the rotary idea to my friend at work and he knows of one for sale.... Long story short I could get a rotary/wiring/ECU for $175...... I am very very tempted

think it'll even fit man? lol what are the dimensions of a 13b rotary? I've only ever seen one FWD rotary and that was overseas on a Lazer (ford escort) and it had an extra long nose to fit the rotary in there iirc.

That car would be the perfect choice for a FWD rotary! Go for it! It's a shame it'll still have to pass emissions though, so you need to retain the rat's nest of emissions solenoids and vacuum hoses from the RX. I wonder if you could get a 12A to pass; I had one for a while that ran great, might be able to get it back cheap.

12A would be neat since it's carb (afaik)
