BG awd trans in a BF chassis

I've heard that the BF AWD front axles (mainly the drivers side) does not fit the BG AWD trans, so my question is what do the BF guys do when swapping in a BG trans?

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

You use the BF outside CV and stub on the BG inner and shaft.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

Ok that seems simple enough, will a FWD (323 gt) outer CV work as well?

I only ask because I have a spare FWD axle that I could use as a donor

And for the pass. side, I'd just use the BF AWD int. shaft and axle correct?

        nope,bg awd intermediate and axle.
as for the fwd cv fitting, can't help you there, but its probably worth the effort in finding out.
        unless someone knows forsure.

IIRC you gotta use the 4wd parts with this swap. but it's been awhile...

BG Engine & Tranny in a BF Chassis = BG axles with BF outer CVs, IIRC. At the rate I'm doing this swap, I'll most likely be the last person to do so.

I think you have to pull apart the inner CV joint and flip the bearing 180 degrees to shorten them

Only on the driver's side, I believe.

I think you need the 4wd outer CV's, not the GT/fwd outers, the 2wd turbo are physically bigger (diameter of cup) & use a bigger axle shaft. (tried it, 2wd shaft will not fit in 4wd outer CV)

The NA F-type outer CV cups are a similar size, and *may* have the same axle diameter, but this is pure speculation. Might be worth investigating if you have shot stock base festiva/capri/323 axles though

Well I do have a couple different style axles kickin around now and since I won't be heavily diggin into the AWD conversion for quite some time, I have plenty of time to experiment

Most likely, later on I'll look into finding a set of BF AWD axles to play around with but for now I gotta get caught up on a few things financially

The BG AWD parts I have I plan on swapping into a BF, whether it be my festiva (with adapter plate to the KL) or my 323, ideally I'd like to shorten the width of all the BG parts (the rear I've already got lots of ideas) do I don't have to mess around with fender flares, tires rubbing fenders etc

Just a quick comparison pic between 323 GT int. shaft and the awd protege int. shaft and drivers axle.... the 323 GT axle is the top one in the pic

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, i thought it turned out better then that

                      Made a little progress today

Still have a few minor things to pull but it's pretty much ready to head to the graveyard

Ya I always feel a bit guilty when I strip any car, but at least none of its parts will go to waste

I think I've basically pulled every AWD specific parts worth saving, even if I don't plan on using them, they will go to a good home where they will get used

Too bad there isn't an economical way to get the floor cut out and sent over this way. I'd like to transplant that into a egt.
