Well, after a few years of wanting to do this, I finally got to it. So many times have I heard of people doing this to a 1st gen Protege, but I've NEVER seen a picture of a 1st gen with the conversion actually done. A few Escorts, but not a Protege. The lights are off a 1995 M3 and are in excellent condition. I initially wanted to get glass e-spec E36 lights but they were around $300 and I can't afford that at the moment. There's still a little adjusting to be done, but they are on there and I think they look awesome. Now it's time for a custom grill to match! Sorry for the bad pics but at least you'll get an idea of what they look like. Also, if anyone has ANY questions regarding this, feel free to ask me. I always wanted more info on that particular swap and Groharlem was the only person that provided some details on sizes and so forth a few years back. Now on to the pics!!!

I scraped the tie-bar hard about a month ago but it held up just fine. As for the beam pattern, it's a bit off as of right now. That's why I said there's still some adjusting to be made. It's tricky, but I hope that I'll manage to fix everything up neatly!-------------------------

I got them a few months ago but I think they were around $100, maybe a bit more. You can find them cheaper, but those were in mint condition and that's why they were more expensive. The install was not that hard, but definately very time consuming. A lot of test fitting and cutting. The only bad part about it is that I don't think that I can ever put my stock lights back on because the grinder was on for extended periods of time in order to fit these.-------------------------

Awsome dude! I wan't e-specs, but I would have to get rid of my clears and I don't want to do that. And I can't do the Mirage light swap without swapping out the hood/grill. This is an awsome alternative. I too have been eyeballing this swap, but never took the initiative. Great job. Do you think there will be a write up?2013 Dodge Dart Aero

Btw, I can aim the beam individually (there's an adjustment screw). No need to move the entire headlight to adjust them. Not sure if that's on all E36 headlights or if it was an M3 option only.-------------------------
