Side View Mirror LED Turning Signals

I'm planning on putting a blue LED behind each of my side view mirrors as a backlight so the gap between the mirror and the mirror frame glows. Anyway, I figured I couldn't get away with having them always on so I thought that if I hooked them up so they would only function as a turning signal, that it would be ok. I know some cars alreadly have something similar to this but its a yellow LED arrow but I don't know if my own version would be legal. Any thoughts or ideas?

Any color besides amber and white is illegal. (excluding the back which can have red also)
