GTX body panels VS base model

Are the GTX body panels the same as the base model 323? They look the same but looks can be decieving. I need fenders and would like to know what my options are. Also if anyone knows where some fenders were available that would be awesome.
    Thanks

I think the only difference tween the gtx and a base model are gonna be the hatch wings. Well that and the doors, gtx will have pwr windows and base model is good ol hand crank but I know for a fact the front fenders and doors interchange. Get the turn signal/parkinglight assemblies with the fenders, just in case those are different, cuz some of them are iirc. 'Sides, it ain't a bad thing to have spares of those items.

GTX had wider door moldings as well, if you're swapping fenders you'll want to swap that molding.

The major differences are what is underneath. The floor pan, firewall and radiator support, carpet and back seat and front seat rails are specific to the GTX. Under the hood measurements are different as in the strut towers and other areas. Doors, fenders, grille, quarters, lights, hood and roof are the same...of course from 88-89. The 86-87 are a different story for body panels. The fenders, hood, grilles and lights will bolt on but you will need to swap them all for the lines to match on a 88-89 and vice versa. The interiors(including the dash panel) from the 87-89 Merc Tracer will swap into the BF 323 hatches and sedans, which were much upgraded from the Mazda stuff...and easier to find I might add...but these did not come with power windows that I know of.

Could you please explain? Picture of this? I have heard something like this for the bg Gtr but not on the bfmr Gtx that we are discussing.

I've swapped fenders between a GT and a GTX, they fit fine.
