hello bf owners, recently bought a 323 bf gtx and noticed that one vacum hose in the engine bay wasn't connected... ive attached a pic circled in red, the unit has a adjustable spring of some sort, does anyone know the purpose of this unit and where the hoses are meant to be connected to? - one goes to the inlet but unsure about the other?

Ok, so it MAY be different in your country but that looks to me like the solenoid valve for the vacuum switch valve. If one side is still connected to intake then the other side WOULD be connected to a small round, flat and black vacuum switch valve.
The reason it would be unplugged is that the vacuum switch valve is what turns on the overboost warning buzzer in the cabin at 12lbs of boost(don't know your metric conversion). So a previous owner had prob turned the boost up a little, gotten annoyed with the buzzer every time he throttled up and just unplugged the hose to stop the sensor from going off"See that car, in the 80's that car was deadly." Random man to his son while passing the GTX in a parking lot

The screw let you to tune the valve. You have to tune to have no variation of the idle speed when you turn on electrical equipment.
