    Shifter options

So I am gearing up to get the MX3 back on the road and came across the Mazda 3 shifter. it uses linkage much like the AWD pro.. I planned on modifying the OE but I think it could be adaptable.

Thoughts? I know there were the modified shifters on ford Laser forum that could be purchased from AUS, but is anyone else running a modded setup out of another car?

What's the advantage, assuming the stock shifter is in working order?
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

Shortening the throw required some help from a machinist friend of mine, but one thing I did and I'm really happy with is raising my shifter base. I used coupler nuts and aluminum sleeves to raise the shift base about 3 inches. It makes quite a difference.
