    Galant rotor sizes by gtx510

    This thread was originally created by gtx510.

    Luckily they have a Galant FSM at SPD so I flipped through that the other day.

    The 276mm rotors are from a 1990.5-92 VR4.
    The 266mm rotors came on all the 1989-90.5 models.
    And the 256mm rotors came on the non-turbo 1990.5-92 and all the 1993 models.

    ************EDIT************

    OK. I’ve searched thru 4-5 brake rotor catalogs and several other websites trying to figure out which Galant used what size rotor. This is what I’ve come up with. It might not all be correct when it comes to models and years as even different brake companies disagree. But I think I’ve got the part number vs OD info correct, so try to order by p/n if you can.

    Brembo blank rotors cost about $35 each and http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/ offers free ground shipping. In the past I’ve used http://www.importrp.com/ and I also copied most of the Brembo model year info from their site.
    The drilled or slotted rotors are about $140-150 a pair, a little expensive imho, but still cheaper than Powerslots. I think the slotted rotors might actually be grooved like Powerslots? And usually when the grooves are gone the rotor is at its minimum thickness.

    Brembo Part Numbers
    25xxx = Blank rotors
    35xxx = Drilled (and gold CAD coated) rotors
    45xxx = Slotted (and gold CAD coated) rotors
    65xxx = EZ-check

    This might be a better 257mm x 24.5mm disc??? It’s Eurorotor’s Hyundia rotor, p/n HY-390.

    Powerslot and Frozen Rotors

    We are the best manufacturer & supplier of brakes, brake rotors, brake disc, cross-drilled slotted, dimple drilled rotors, and more.

    http://www.coximport.com/ and http://www.autoanything.com/ seem like they have good prices?

    Powerslot’s cryo’ed rotors are done by Frozen Rotors.
    Frozen Rotors also does cryo’ed blank (Brembo?) rotors but I didn't find the p/n for the 266mm rotors.http://www.frozenrotors.com/products/frozen-rotors/ They’ll do your rotors for $56 per car rotor and $75 per truck rotor. And they’ll slot or drill your rotors for $45 per rotor per modification. If both cross drilling and slotting is desired, the cost is $60 per rotor.

    PSL & PSR - Premium slotted version
    CSL & CSR – Cryo-treated slotted version
    510 PSL & 510 PSR ~$80-90 each
    510 CSL & 510 CSR ~$115-130 each
    These are 256mm rotors???

    Thoughts
    Did anyone measure their rotors before they installed them?
    256mm or 266mm? Anyone actually have 276m rotors?

    Use the 266mm. 276mm will not fit

      Thanks for the update azgtx. This is a thread that I had saved on my pc from when mazda323performance.com was up and running.

      As stated by azgtx, the 266mm is biggest size you can without modifying the mounting point of the stock calipers. To run the 276mm rotor adapter brackets would be required just like running the rx7 calipers.

        I remember GTX510 from mazda323performance.com. That guy knew everything and all about 323 BF. Is he on this forum or is he lost with that old forum ?

            260mm. The width of them are a lot less than the galant ones, i think about 18mm, where galant ones are around 24mm.

                I did the upgrade myself a while back but for some reason i had a problem with warping discs, tried 2 sets of hubs, 2nd set i had machined down on a lathe but still didnt have any joy so went back to stock rotors. Its like they didnt sit flush on the hub face, there was play and they would slightly wobble, like the hubs themselves was warped, but i dont think that was the problem. There is a small lip inside the discs also which i had machined down but that didnt make any difference.

                But for the time i did have them on there, you can tell the difference in stopping power. Mines just a daily drive, not fast road/track so they are not really needed for me, main reason i done it was for easy disc changes so i didnt have to spilt the bearing all the time.
