There will be 2 versions of this bar offered: The single bar version, and the double bar version.
Details:
Both bars will look just like what is pictured and will clear a BP engine. Additional height to clear other engines needs to be requested.
Both bars will have a tab welded on the back to utilize a brake M/C brace. The actual brace will be a DIY affair for the end user to make and fit.
At this point its unknown how or if the bars will fit on an MX3 since none of them have stepped up to provide the measurements for it.
Bars can be made from either DOM or Chromoly steel
Bars will be bare metal/unpainted
3rd Gen BJ protege should also be able to use either of these bars pending a BJ owner giving us measurements of intake manifold height. PM me if you can provide the information
Application List:
Any 2nd gen escort/1st gen protege/ BG 323 that has a BP with a stock (1st gen BP) intake manifold N/A/GTX/GTR.
Any BG with other engine combination's or non-stock BP manifolds can contact Jim about fitment
Should also fit the following:
MX3- Need an MX3 test horse in the Southern California area. Contact Jim if you can participate. **Must be an MX3 with a ZE or Millenia Intake manifold**
2nd gen Escort with CVH/SPI- need measurements to be sure of clearing the intake manifold
3rd gen escort/ZX2- need measurements to be sure of clearing the intake manifold
3rd gen protege- need measurements to be sure of clearing the intake manifold
Material Choice:
DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) vs Chromoly- pound for pound both materials weigh the same amount, but Chromoly is slightly stronger then DOM. Weight savings comes from using smaller/thinner walled Chromoly vs DOM due to the strength advantage of Chromoly over DOM.
