    FM901 vs 712s

Which tires are better in your opinion?
I've read tons of reviews and the only thing i keep reading is "they're loud" on both accounts. Now they are probably people that had gushy all-seasons that went to Z-rated.. so the opinions are invalid.

    So which are better?

I guess the 712's you are referring to are Kumhos, correct? Well in that case they are garbage, I have no clue what the other model is, but I and many others have talked about how piss poor the Kumhos are. The noise never was a concern to me though, I have to many other loud parts on my car.

I don't know if you have checked out Nankang tires yet, but you may want to take a look at them. I have them on my Protege and I was checking the tread on them the other day. They have been on since the beginning of Decemeber and they are barely showing any wear. They even still have the little rubber "spikes" on the side of the tire. They are very very low cost as well. I know I can get the 18s shipped for under $400. Might be something to investigate further.

EDIT: My bad I was replying before you got the poll up.

i had looked at Nankangs.. but haven't found a place that carry them in my city or near.. i've called a few places, but none carry them..
still lots of places to call...

but I'm looking to buy from 1010tires.com.. they're a canadian distributor in BC... only have to pay GST and shipping.. no customs charges from ordering from the US

Those Dunlops don't look too bad. The big thing is to track down as many customer reviews as you can. That is where you find out the most helpful info.

          oh man.. no more reading..
i've read at least 200+ reviews on each tire.. probably lots more on the Kumhos... and it's a little more negative on the Kumhos, i find...
although the FM901s got iffy reviews when it comes to wet traction

not much off of a fan for dunlops..

But I know for damn sure, my khumo's were way better than any nitto ... and were kick ass in the rain..

do you have a pic of the dunlops in a size that you want on a rim, and on a car.
I can give my opinion on how they look..

the khumo's are just to fat.

yup , just remeber if your shocks aren't strong enough to push the tire to the ground, then how can you know the full potential of the khumo's ...

I mean ****, ask ne3ek how my car handles with the damn 13 inch cockriding tires I had on my protege... he couldn't frigin believe it...

i'm probably either gonna be riding on 17" Motegi MR7s or Konig Holes... i'm still not too sure which look i wanna go for (and which is cheaper)

Proto2k.. i'm a liar... i just flipped through the new PASMag.. and there's a place in Canada that sells Nankang NS-1 for $67 a piece... although the Kumhos are only $60, i'll send the extra $7 a tire for the added silence.

both are marginal in the rain.
both aren't all that great in the rain.
both are pretty competitive in terms of cost.
                          both have soft sidewalls.

keep in mind that the 712 comes in both a V and Z rated version, and that they ARE different compounds. The Z is stickier, but won't last as long.

                          it's a toss-up basically.

Bridgestone makes at least 7 different Potenza models.

What you BASICALLY said is something along the lines of, "i like ford" when asked "is a mustang or camaro faster?"
