well, i've always seen it as we have 2 options for where to put the sub. if you want it facing forward, you have to seal it off from the trunk, like in an infinite baffle, or free air setup. but i've always been a fan of facing the box towards the trunk any why the hell would you want to put anything else in your trunk besides a sub box?

that's why you build a really big box

i just wish he said how close to the rear he had the box, like just enough space to the sub not to hit the trunk, or 2 in. or what.?

i figure he had it just a couple inches away from the back of the trunk. you don't want it too close, other wise it won't let the sub breath, and you don't want it too far away, otherwise the 2 waves don't line up

I never understood why people had subs firing through the rear seats of sedans. I just knew the sounded better and thought that it was for more length for waves to travel as well as the acoustics of the vehicle.

Also, what about downfiring subs? I would imagine it would sound better than subs firing towards the rear.

Im guessing it would be the same as firing it close to the back of the trunk... but id bet it owuldnt sound as clean
