Well I personally don't know **** about the Sephia, but Rockauto is your BEST FRIEND for checking interchangeability.

Hell I thought the Sephia would have been closer to the Protege BHA (95-98), but it seems they're closer to the BG (90-94).

I just checked control arm interchangeability, and both Sephia and Protege/323 BG share the same part number.

So if you're going to ask "what lowering springs fit my car, or struts, or bushings" I would check Rockauto for reference numbers and that'll shed a LOT of light on the situation.

not a sephia guy myself, but I am definitely a bp enthusiast. Let me know if you are ever looking for parts. I sold my escort gt and still have a ton of left overs. There are a decent number of mazda/bg guys in the area too.

I have done some poking around the Kia suspension at the junkyard, and I have a feeling other then some minor differences, most of the suspension pieces should interchange with anything people have done to escorts and proteges.

It would be cool to see a serious Kia

Nice! yea a lot of my honda kid friends are suprised by the "pep" my kia carries.

i'd love to do some suspension work but my biggest problem is not knowing what can swap over.
same with the rear disc swap i would like to do.

i know a lot of motor stuff is interchangeable, i'd like to get some headers eventually. (as well as a egr delete)

but any help its greatly appretiated, and hook ups on parts are very welcome. i'd love to make a serious kia as long as i dont really break the bank. i did get this car for only 300 bucks. its got character more than i has power and its really just a fun car. it keeps it lively and fun.

Personally if you're keeping it n/a I wouldn't bother putting an aftermarket header on it, your Kia already has the tubular 4-1 header from the factory and flows much better than what us Mazda BG guys are use to (lumps of cast poo).

You can however modify your tubular manifold at the collector, it tappers down to around 1.5"...some people have cut it off at the collector and replaced it with a 2-2.5" pipe and noticed a nice gain in power as well.

I recommend you go to a local junkyard and just spend time swapping parts from a Kia like yours and a protege or escort in the yard. Thats your best bet for being sure it will work, and its basically free. I can tell you though the front brakes are smaller and completely different from any other BG, but its not such a bad thing if you wanted to create a budget brake upgrade since the caliper mounts are way better suited for adapter brackets. Front wheel bearings are the same as the other BG's. FWD header selection sucks for the BP. Pacesetter is your only option or custom. If it was me, I would put a 2.5" exhaust from the header back, and add resonators if the sound is too loud.

Add a budget MS 1 to the mix after bolt ons and suspension work to bring out some potential and it will not win any drag races, but will be a fun corner carver.

If you want to win drag races, that needs boost.

Welcome! I can speak from experience, don't spend money on "NA power" if you think you might boost it later on down the road. and once the boost bug has bit you, you're ****ed. I though a couple bolt ons would be fine..and you see where I am now. Focus on suspension and maintaining it properly. Fresh fluids do a lot for a car.

i do keep the fluids religiously up to date.

i' like to bleed my brakes and got DOT 4 to help with some of the brake fade.
But i rather just get Protege spindles and do a full protege brake conversion with prop valve (and master cylinder if needed).

i also am very curious to see what coil-overs fit my car and who has some used one for cheap. i know some BG stuff is interchangable but idk what is and isnt.

Ace, one day i'd like to have a miata head and pistons and gtr connecting rods and go boost, but i dont think i will ever have the money:/

im also very curious to what miata second gen BP stuff works/gains on my motor.

I have some Kia spindles at home actually. The wheel bearing is about 10mm higher then the other BG ones and the tie rod mount is also higher, so if you swap to the escort/protege spindle, you will gain about 10mm of ride height but your tie rod will have better geometry when the car is lowered. I believe the kia tie rod will mount in a BG spindle and I know for sure the ball joint stud is the same size.

The strut mount on the spindle has slightly different bolt spacing from other BG's, so if you swap to the protege/escort stuff, any struts or coils should be a bolt on.

If you do decide to swap to escort/protege spindles, get the later ones that use the bigger balljoint stud, that way you can easily install RX7 ball joints later if you want some more track in front and negative camber.
