Currently spraying my car and i want to know how to detach the piece thats have the mirror from the piece that bolts to the door. Is there a special way of taking it apart without damaging it. I made and attempt but it feels like I'm doing the wrong way because it feels as if might break it doing so.

Take the little plastic panel off of the mirror adjust. Remove bolt to remove handle. Remove cover surround, remove 3 fasters, mirror falls off. This is from memory from back a few years so I may have missed a step but I think that's all there is.'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

Oh hell I never bothered with that. Well I did once but the disassembly process I used I cannot recommend. Tree branch at 60 on the Taholah stage of the Doo Wop rally...
But I think once you take the whole mirror assy off the door, part b just falls away from part a.'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and

yeah that treebranch method doesn't leave you with the best-prepped surface for respray.'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and

I will have to acquire a new side mirror as the permanent solution.
