    bp swap,the "wheels" are in motion

    okay, this is what was going on through my head...1.5 turbo Or 1.8L swap? i just decided to swap my 1.5L to the 1.8L engine.

    i already ordered my crank pulley and some adjustable cam gears.
    next on my list are some items to freshin up the motor.

    items are:
    pcv valve
    radiator hose
    thermostat
    water pump
    distributor cap
    distributor rotor
    ngk wires
    ngk plugs
    oil filter
    timing belt
    timing belt tensioner
    timing belt idler bearing
    vavle cover gasket
    fuel filter
    if you guys can think of anything else, just let me know. i'll keep you posted on what's next.

        may not be necessary , but if you want to ... Head gasket ...


        It would be real easy to change, especially if you have the timing belt off already.

          distributor o-ring,
          Cam seals, if by chance, you've got one from a 97/98 pro, you might think about adjusting the valves.
          Since you've got the engine out, maybe front and rear main seals, and oil pan gasket aswell.
          Thats about all I can think of myself.

          PS, hows your clutch and pilot bearing??
          EDIT: If you do get a clutch, might think about getting your flywheel resurfaced.

            yeah, cam seals i'm not sure about, maybe...maybe not. oil pan gasket depends on the condition. oh, as for the clutch, i have a new one sitting in my living room...might go buy act though.

              Well, *IF* you should decide to change the front and rear main seals, you'll have to get a new gasket for the pan.

                    You know that Beau at MAmotorsports could help you with some of the intake pipeing. If you want something custom .. I think your the one that's near Arizona. he could also fab up a turbo manifold. When you see mine you will have an idea of what it looks like.

                    For now, chill with the mods and just get the motor in your car. Just do what is needed to get the engine/car up and running freshly.

                        ok, now concentrate on getting that motor in the car.

                        I may actually have to pull my 1.5 harness to check why my fans are not working. I put that off long enough.

                          finally received my engine on thursday the 8th. i haven't seen it yet, as it is 3hours away. i'll be checking it out this sunday, along with installing an oem clutch and my ground controls. upon inspection i will determine what the motor will need to be tuned-up and refreshened.

                            another update:
                            i received my tranny, clutch, flywheel, and axles on wednesday. and tonight (i just got done) inspecting the contents. come to find out that the clutch disk is damaged, the edge is chipped off. now i'm wondering if this is still usable? and now i have no clutch alignment tool. hopefully autzone, napa, etc. has one lying around that i can purchase.
                            my other clutch kit didn't come with one either.
                            why isn't this a perfect world?lol

                              well some good news(hopefully, crossing my fingers and praying), i just ordered a complete wiring harness for my 1.5 to 1.8 swap. hopefully they send the correct harness. i had the guy verify it by giving me the VIN number and engine size, so that kind of reassures me.lol
