I figure I post my recent experience with a misbehaving instrument cluster. Suddenly one morning, I start my car and my tachometer did not move from 0 RPM. My engine coolant temperature gauge did not budge either. The bottom indicator lights on the instrument cluster did not work either. The car runs fine otherwise. The problem was a fuse called Meter located in the interior fuse box, right close to the clutch pedal. Just replace the 10A Meter fuse and vwualaahh! What caused it for me was the short originating from the back-up light switch, which is located near the top side of the transmission, below the distributor. I replaced that with a new switch.
