    Maf warranty extension

My car has been having problems as of late so I took it to the dealer and now the mechanic is telling me that the maf is the problem.

I remember reading the protege faq and it having that the part is under an extened warrenty for 7 years. I told this to the mechanic and he said that is not the case and a new part will cost $350.

WTF, any one have this done yet.
    Any suggestions?

    Here is what I found:

Mazda Motor Corporation is extending the warranty coverage of the Mass Airflow Sensor on certain 1999-2000 Protegé vehicles with the 1.6L engine and Non-California Emission Control Warranty. The extended warranty is available for 7 years from the original warranty start date or 70,000 miles, which ever occurs first. This warranty extension program is provided in the interest of customer satisfaction.
You can find more info on this at:

i ran through this same problem, i called the dealer that my friend works at, i thought it was a recall, but its not, they will replace it if its broke, and you have your stock intake on, if you run a aftermarkit intake they will tell you to pack sand, because they figure you made it break.
