    Postponing Dyno Day

A sad day for me today. I just got a call from Derrick at CS. They were changing out my head when they found rust and what not on my block. I need to change out to forged pistons and bore out my block.

Will probably have to postpone a week or two. We'll see. I'll have pics tommorow so you all can see the damage. =(

So mods for this next couple weeks: new cams, lifters, head, forged pistons, boring out my block, MS motor mounts, G-series tranny, ACT clutch, and all the small visual stuff.

Yes sounds cool. But i would have rather not needed to do everything so soon.

      So what does that mean?
Does that mean that the internals were rusting?
Why do you need to go forged internals?

so here's the deal i hit up CS today to check out the car. my 4th cylinder has a rust rind about 3/4 down it and its pretty bad. What is going to happen is that they are sending it out to bore out my block. With that we're going to put in .40 over forged pistons from Weisco. With that my displacement goes up to a 1.9l.

I forgot my cam when i went. It'll take about a week to get my block back. I'll tkae pics before everything gets back together.

sweet, but that's frigin weird that you would have rust down the block .. maybe it was sitting to long or something, before you got the motor.

Damn, and I know you really didn't want to spend extra cash ..

Yea, the car would have run for maybe 6 monthes to a year before blowing. Just a time bomb waiting to happen.

When they ran the compression check everthing looked normal because the rust was so deep. Its a good thing i swapped out the head when i did. funny thing was, was that i wasn't losing any oil. I mean once they took apart the head they saw some oil in there but not much. oh well.

Well i guess with all this, its pretty much a new motor now. btw they're painting the block silver now or should i go for just black?. least it'll be clean.

new pistons, rings and boring out the block are totaling max 700$. DAMN!!!

yeah man I hear you there.
I think you should do the block black and the head powder coated silver..(if that doesn't cost you anything or much).

shoot I hear your 700 bucks.
I have spend about 2 grand on turbo **** and the stuff for the 323 motor, ps2 and new shoes (feet shoes).

Good news is I have almost everything, I just need to make the downpipe,
              - - will do myself (have welder)
              - - test fit intercooler -- for fitment -- then send out for finalization
              - - get the log manifold in -- test fit turbo - - get machine shop to weld on flange
-- make my intercooler and intake pipeing.. -- easy easy as hell.

Then just wire everything up bolt it up and tune.
Mental Addiction built the intercooler for me, and is doing the manifold for me.. with external wastegate... adj rising rate fpr ... I can't even say how big of a help he has been.

Anyhow tell Derrick I said what's up and he needs to send me some corksport stickers lol ..

I need to get a 1st gen LX and part that bitch out , and make some extra cash .lol ..

i would paint hte block silver... for 2 reasons.... how often do you see a silver block? most are brown or black... and dirt and stuff wont be as visible on it so you wont have to clean it as hard to make it look as good....isnt 700 pretty cheap for all of that stuff though? i mean i thought boring out a block would be more expensive than 700 by itself...

                  700 is about right.
plus If I could trust anyone with my motor it would corksport.

                  Yer..
and a silver block will show oil easy ... remeber that stuff builds up...
black would hide it better till you clean it

i use brake cleaner to take the grime off my block...
I don't know if paint could stand up to that for to long

the silver paint is 1500 degree paint... my engine would melt before this ish comes off... lol... i think it'll go well with my gunmetal valve cover and polished spark plug cover. i will have pics as soon as i can.

btw....the 700$ includes the price of the pistons and rings on top of it. =)
