    BP DOHC turbo headers?

    hey guys

i was looking around on ebay and found this:

would it bolt and match the 93 DOHC head ports?

thank you for any info, i have yet to look at the heads on my engine.

That looks like it could actually work..
    hmm.

Depends on how much room is in front of the BP.

If you push the rad forward a bit and got a pusher fan that would work...anyone notice the odd placement for the WG? only on cylinder #4? whats with that?

I just didnt think only venting 1 cylinder would be enough to relieve flow going to the turbine...maybe i just dont know enough. hummm

YEah stuff would have to be modified for that to fit, like moving the radiator forward...

Thats a great buy for the money, just need to make sure your hood and radiator will clear it.. I'd definately find a workaround for them to have something like that running under the hood.

Yea, i saw those the other day but they come out to far. there is no way you have that kind of room between engine and radiator. A miata has that kind of room, but a protege? Hellss no. Not without a lot of moding. Pointless if you ask me. Also wtf would you want an external wastegate? I mean i dont think anyone with a protege needs one unless youre gonna be pushing like 20psi. It interested me for a min. but NAHHH.

the miata turbo mani mounts the turbo with the flange being below the entire turbo. i know this might sound dumb to some, but maybe it would work if we could just get the exhaust flange welded on upside down, so that the turbo's flage would be above the entire turbo. does anyone follow? can't explain too well with words.

I know that the 2nd gen BPs have different exhaust flanges....Isn't that what the Miata has the 2nd gen BP??? If so remember that you will still have to have that flange cut and another one welded on...

*Edit, but yeah the ports would match up perfectly

I was just thinking about that manifold and the turbo is going to be facing up with that, we definately dont have enough room. Unless you put another flange on it, and then who knows if the exhaust ports are going to match up then....

Has anyone seen any miata manifolds that place the turbo down?? I think with the engine bay in them there is a down pipe issue or something like that with the turbo facing down.. Every manifold i have seen so far puts the turbo up..

                        well later guys

that's what i meant in my original post. that's why i was saying that the exhaust flange of the headers should get tuned upside down, so that the turbo would be "hanging" down, instead of being positioned upward like all miata turbo manifolds.

the flange would be reversed to face the turbo downwards, i.e. next to the block.

I planned on replacing the radiator with an Al one, getting a smaller one on the side with an intercooler on the other side.

Also the downpipe will be 2.5" into a 2.5" highflow cat into a quiet 2.25" cat-back.

I am going with a tial wastegate, because they carry the spring pressure i want, and i have one lying around

now i am awaiting the $$$ for the turbo, IC and S-afc.
