Gulf Coast Region Autocross - March 28, 2004

    More pictures: http://www.morrownet.net/negatize/autox13/

This event was actually a two day event, with a driving school on Saturday and the actual competition on Sunday.

Jesse came all the way from Gainesville with some of his friends. It was nice to finally meet a ClubProtege member in person. He was my instructor on Saturday. He taught me quite a bit about my car and that I still have a loong way to go before I can reach my (slow) car's limits.

My suspension started making a real bad clunking noise Saturday after the race. One of the locals (Danny) offered to fix it at his dad's house. We thought we had it all fixed but on the drive from the hotel to the event, it started clunking again. This pissed me off pretty bad and I was in a bad mood the rest of the day. My times showed it. The fastest I managed was a measly 75.xxx while my friend Chris in his Celica GT managed a 70.xxx. As far as I remember Jesse was in the high 60's.

I got the clunking fixed today. All it turned out to be was a loose endlink on the driver's side. Dammit.

Clint, good to hear it was something not too important.

How'd the Cavy handle compared to your car?

It's too bad you couldn't really push and do as well as you were Saturday afternoon. Those last few times were flying.

my best time was a 67.2, right behind Ian who got a 67.1, both on our 2nd runs.

    Good to finally meet you.

The Cavy was quite interesting. Of course, it didn't handle like mine at all. Josh added a huge rear swaybar and that makes the car really tail happy, much like mine was w/ the AWR swaybar I used to have. Only his was twice as bad. My one and only run in his car I swung the tail out several times and made a 78.xxx.

I wish they had posted the times from Saturday. I think I would have done better Sunday if I wasn't pissed off and worrying about my car as much. Oh well. There's always next month.

      Congrats on your fast times!
