    taking the protege to get the ecu read

    I have to take the protege to autozone this weekend to get the ECU read.
    I have a CEL ever since the install of the motor. However I do need to go back and check all my wireing.
    I did an O2 sensor mod to the rear o2 sensor. I hooded it up wrong apparently the first time and the car idles like **** and shut off. It was also draging it's ass all over the place.
    Then I changed the location of the wires and the car seems to be running better. I still however have the CEL, although I have not reset my ecu. I want to take it in and have them read the ecu. I want to see what exactly is up with my motor and what I am missing.
    I will post results pending the test actually works.

    Bruce, I thought you didnt have an idle problem... How did it idle? Lumpy? RPMS' raising and dropping? Or what? Maybe thats why my car idle kinda bad. Did the 2nd 02 Sensor help the idle???

      i just sent mine away to mazda for a the same thing, cars been running like ass. and i cant for the life of me figure it out.

        well before I did the o2 sensor eliminator mod, it idles sweet and was quick as ****.

        I did the o2 mod and I guess the wires were hooked up wrong, and the car idled like ass. I changed the wires and the car runs better. I just want to take the car to autozone to actually see if it really worked or not.

                    Frigin Amazing .... read this

                    Ok so I go out to my car tonight at about 9:30 when I got off work. I already knew the car was dead for some damn reason. I mean If you turn the key to ig the dash wouldn't light up or nothing. I don't know why, I will have to figure that out.
                    Anyway .
                    So the car is super dead. I try to kick start it, no go ... didn't work, why I don't know.
                    So I am waiting for the guys to give me a jumpstart and the ****er security guy took for frigen ever and ****..
                    So magically the frigin protege came back to life and ****. The frigin dash would light up but the starter was **** ... I mean it would just click and that's it ... ohh frigin great another part to the list of **** I have to spend money on..
                    well anyway my other security friend came and helped me push the protege up the hill cause we tried to conect the jumper cables and that **** wasn't happening. So we push it up the hill. I jump in and I tell him to push down the hill. I go about 3 spaces pop the clutch and she burbles to life..
                    A cruel way to start your pro, but hey ..
                    anyway guess what I noticed..

                    NO FRIGIN CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS.
                    that's right you frig the check engine light was frigin gone.. What do you know about that.

                    I mean I drove all the way home and the check engine light did not come on or anything. I was frigin amazed. So this most likely means that the rear o2 sensor mod frigin worked and the ecu thinks the **** bag is there.

                    I have to get another starter from somewhere. So we wiill see what happens if this maintains it no CEL status. I have been driving the protege all week. -- but the damn starter is giving out and when I step on the brakes my lights and **** are dimming now...

                      Playa check your ground wire or battery terminal connections. If the CEL was gone that means the battery was unplugged at some point. It probably came loose.

                          dude i just got mine from mazda, still broken, they dont know whats wrong with it. but the EGR valve was stuck wide open, carboned all up. took care of that, both my 02 sencors are not working?????? not sure why, they both are readinf like ****, and not doing their jobs. hmmmmmmmmm. might delay my turbo install AGAIN!!!!!!!
