hey everyone whats up... some of you might remember me from the old forums...well i'm here now....
i just wanted to ask tho, my enigne blew about a year ago (May, 2003)
and we got it replaced under warranty...
well i knwo liek everything about the differences between the FP, and FS engines
I have a '99 Protege LX touring edition (came with the 1.8L FP-DE engine)
well long story short i was looking itno the engine bay and well
right under the head, around where cylinder 3 is ... it is stamped on the block as "FS9"
does this mean i have the FS 2.0L engine.....
did the mazda dealer that serviced my car, did they maybe drop in the 2.0L engine, what do you guys think....

that is all of it, now what do you guys think.... u think they put the FS in, instead of the FP
i ahve noticed more torque down low, than before, and i also have noticed that the power drops off like just before 6000RPM (like maybe 5500RPM) and back before when i had the FP the power didn't drop off, but it did not have the low end torque...
I'm also concearned about the ECU... will the ECU from the 1.8s run the 2.0 properly.... i knwo that the 1.8s had a speed governor and the 2.0s didn't
what is the rev limiter set at on the 2.0s???
I also knwo that the ranny in the FP wasn't as strong as the tranny int eh FS, and i dunt see any work been done to my tranny, so i'm wondering hwo bad of a concearn that would be..... well i have been driving it for over a year, and without any problems so far....
mainly i just wanna knwo if the engine has been swapped...
