gauges help anyone?

i just bought a volt and a water temp gauge for a pillar pod. i need to run the wire to the temp sending unit. this is dumb question but where the hell is it? im just learnin bout engines as i go. (god love the hanes manual ) has anyone hooked up a temp gauge? is it on the water pump?and can i use the one on the car or the one with the kit?

it the temp gauge a electrical or mechanical.

If it is electrical, you may have to hook it up to the sensor on the block under the disty.

If it is mechanical then you may have to splice into the water hoses.
