    dash question

has anyone put a MX-3 dash in the pro?

i did a search but nothing about this. i was in the 323 forums and i heard people say the BG 323 and MX-3 have the same mounting and tubing. but door panels might be a problem. unless anyone knows anything..

I know a guy with a 323 who bought a beat up MX3 GS, swapped the 1.8 V6, brakes and entire interior into his car and it bolted up nicely.

Only thing you should know about the MX3 dash is it requires you to use the MX3 seats. The dash sits lower about 2".

The HVAC controls are the same, and the bolt locations are also the same, but you mioght have to do some splicing for the gauge cluster and maybe a couple of the switches, since it uses differnet shaped a/c, hazard, defroster, and dimmer switches.

I think that the rear seats bolt in as well. dunno for sure.

The doors are a bit diffferent tho, I dont think that they would mate up perfectly.

considering that the MX-3 is 2 door i doubt it... what about another car? like a corolla or something

the mounting would be off I would think.
Custom fab might be the easiest. A little work but I think that the end result would be nice. Pull the panel, remove the old outer cover. Cut a new piece to match, then pick your own leather/pleather/vinyl or whatever you wanted as a cover. Cut it to match and glue/staple it back on. I used to have a link for a how to do this on some 70/80s p.o.s.

IMO that would be easier than trying to find another car with similar door panels, changing the mounting points to match, then making it all fit.

comes down to how much money/time you have to spend.

good luck, and whever you decide to do take a **** load of pics along the way.

Uhmm....a 323 is a two door too. Don't post if you have no idea what you are talking about

The MX3 has the exact same unibody as the 323/pro means the rears WILL bolt in, among other things, like the carpeting, seats and maybe the rear panels. But with the protege, bolting in the rear seat looks really stupid and removes the 60/40 functionality.

the door panels won't fit right b/c of the shape of the doors, but I know of a couple of 323 guys with the MX3 rear seats installed and they didn't have a problem. THe guy who converted his 323 to full MX3 interior somehow figured out a way to mount the panels, but he didn't take any pics of how it looked.

Uhmm.....The original question was about a protege and as far as I know, no 2 door proteges exist , except in your photoshopped world that is. Insert your statement above HERE.

If the MX-3 door panels dont fit perfectly, it shouldn't be too much work for an upholstery shop to fix that, especially if the MX panels are bigger than your doors, hell you could probably cut it out yourself. Wait are the MX panels molded plastic? I guess it depends on the panel. I would just go to the j/y and buy the crappiest MX panel I could for like 10 bucks, then try it. If its too much work you're only out 10 bux0rZ.

no no all i want from the MX-3 is the dash. but how the dash fits against the front door panel is what i'm worried about.

also what else out of the MX-3 will fit the protege? center console maybe?
