My car is noisy in front and I (and everyone remotely car smart riding in it) have determined that the wheel bearings are at fault. I talked to the local Midas shop and they quoted me $200 to replace just one of the bearings. Reading and searching here brought me a $30-$60 quote for just the bearings. My question is... Can I replace them on my own? Do I need any special equipment? (a press was mentioned in one thread here) Is there a way I can jerk the Midas people into making their quote about $100 cheaper? I know a mechanic that can get the part at a wholesale price and will be willing to help me in working on it, so that's not a huge issue. My main problem is with Midas and their outrageous quote.

Check out the brake section the front wheel bearing itself is there. It's $35. I've never replaced one so I don't know how to do it.2006 Mazda 3 hatchback manual
