Kia donor car for my BP swap...

    hey,
i am on the verge of buying a smashed 1997 Kia Sephia with the 1.8L DOHC...

now, initially i thought that me buying the entire smashed car, i would have everything for the swap, but now im reading that i cannot use the ecu or the wiring harness from the kia, and i need mazda stuff...

would someone be able to explain why the kia stuff wont work?
and also, would someone be able to tell me what would be useful off of this kia for doing the swap?
or is buying the whole car a waste, should i just get the motor out of the car alone?

    please help...
    thanks guys

I'm so close to doing this swap.
In tearing down the mud encrusted 97 Kia engine, I noticed something. The Kia externals...AC compressor and alternator for sure are different then the Mazda BP. I don't know if my z5 accessories will work on the Kia BP block yet.
And the BP block is cast with a Kia stamp...meaning they were made for Kia, not just off-the-shelf Mazda parts.
I still need a MAF sensor and downpipe for a BP before I get started. I'll keep my progress updated here.

You can use the Plugs on the Harness for the throttle body plugs and maybe a few others under the disty.
          You can use the ecu.

that is about all you will need from that clip. I wouldn't bother to buy the whole car as you won't need anything else out of it.

I have both a BP mazda ecu and a BP kia ecu. My car ran fine with both of them.
no I am not selling one.

what year is your car and what year is the engine your getting? If its 97-98, you need to contact me. Engine swaps for the later 2nd gens are vastly diffrent than others....There are things you need to avoid that could seriously screw your system. My aolim is "mazdaboost" or email nickbloem@yahoo.com. Try to get me on aolim though, email sucks...
