na, the 1st gens have a valve cover and the cam cover. Not like our 2nd gens where the valve cover covers everything.

Nothing wouldn't happen, but the cover is there to keep debrees and dirt away from the timing belt.

umm, so when you want to pull down the timing belt damn near 4 times like I did on 2 different engines you don't disturb the valve cover gasket while doing so.

They are seperate b/c the 1st gen BP's are awexomer and allow for more modification

You have to be careful to not drop tools, and let large debris get down in there. you could tear up the timing belt in no time if you are carless without those covers on. IMHO your belt will DEFINITELY lose some of its life if you leave the cam covers off, but it won't hurt anything seeing how the engines are non-interference.

hahahaha, I dont even use the menus anymore, I just click "new posts" and check out stuff I'm interested in. But yeah, this definitely doesn't fall into the realm of suspension/wheels/brakes

edit: next time I fill up I'll hit the trip odometer. Hopefully I'll remember

you could maybe make one out of plexi, if you can mold it.
