Wheel bearing involved with drive axles?

Some of you know i had both my front axles replaced a little more than a week ago. That said, a day or two after i had picked it up, i'm driving around and it sounds like my wheel bearing is busted.

It's the same wheel bearing i just had replaced about 11 months ago.

Could the shop that replaced my axles somehow damaged my wheel bearings while they were working on my axles? How feasable is it that they might have done this?

I just don't see a wheel bearing breaking after only 1 year.

I can only see them getting damaged if they for some reason had to press the wheel bearings out and press them back in but thats not a required step for an axle swap...they would have to do extra work if they did damage them.

I think someone else on this forum had serious problems with the wheel bearings. He went through 3 sets in no time. Do a search and maybe you'll find more info on that.

Maybe your dust sheilds are touching your rotors. I bent mine by accident when changing my axles...the shop could've done the same I guess.

thanks for the info guys. the shop told me the same thing as a shop told marc93lx about the hub needing replacement.

So i got the bearingand the hub replaced ; they showed me what my old hub looked like and it had a very defined cut in it. This new shop i took the car to said that Merchants probably did that when i had my bearing fixed originally.
