money is always the key. hey, i wonder why they don't make too many rwd 4cylinders anymore, ya know, like the 240sx, and stuff.

It's a Miata engine. There is a typo though.... it says it will fit a bunch of cars that it will not:

                FITS: 90-98 Mazda Protege

                94-01 Mazda Miata

                91-96 Ford Escort GT

                94-97 Kia Shepia GS

                Mercury LTS

At least, I don't think it will fit. At any rate, its not the same as the BP the Protege uses.

It will fit, just not the tranny.

The engine itself should bolt up, but you'll have to use protege accessory brackets, mounts, manifolds and so on.......

The reason car makers make fwd cars in purely economics. The fwd assembly is cheaper to make and assemble on an assembly line.

Also, better fuel efficency, easier for most people to drive.

less that, more what Proteus said. The engine and tranny is dropped in at once, then the shafts mounted up and you're done. No neededing to drop rear endes, yadda yadda badda badda....

yea it's mostly cheap factor. the carmakers justify it by selling safety to the public with talks about understeer and better snow traction etc.

they're not wrong, but they're not telling the truth.

that suks though. i really like the MR2 that i picked up. its fun as hell. plus, i might be getting a 90 240sx. i figured that it was an economical reason.
