    Curiousity?

Out of curiousity, and to find out if I'm right about something. If you still have your stock front springs from your '02 and up 2.0L M/T Protege, any model will do (DX/LX/ES/P5---No MSP or MP3 please) if they are still on the car please look, if they are collecting dust in the garage dig 'em out. I'm betting there are two paint dots about two coils up from the bottom. One will be dark green, the other a light purplish-pinkish color. PLMK, as this could bring an end to an inadvertant "war of words" I don't wish to continue. Thanks to all who respond in advance.

Damn, I wish you'd said something last weekend, when I rotated my tires. I would have looked. Are the paint spots oriented so that I could see them with the wheel on?

HstockDXer, what are you trying to prove to yourself with this?

The MT front springs were never in dispute!

So yes, all the 2002+ MT Proteges use the same front springs. There's nothing interesting about this .. TheMAN corrected his original interpretation of the Parts Catalog listing, but you seem to have missed it.

I looked into it further and the post I made in post #20 is wrong

in the order it was listed it should be:
        -all 2001-2003 1.6s, 2001-2003 P5 and 2.0 manual
        -all 2003 2.0 automatic
        -all 2001-2002 2.0 automatic
You've already seen the part numbers....

        These cars:
        2002 Protege ES Manual - JM1BJ225920572911
        2001 Protege ES Auto - JM1BJ225110449151
        2001 Protege LX Manual - JM1BJ225210413808
        2003 Protege ES Auto - JM1BJ225131174829

        Bring up these part numbers:

Which means... (if you can decypher the cut & paste by TheMAN .. split it into a grid of 4)
        2001 LX Manual = 2002 ES Manual = 2003 ES Auto != 2001 ES Auto

If you really think that people are lying to you .. take the VINs to your local dealership and ask them to look up the part numbers. Wouldn't that be more definitive than asking people to try and decide what color paint dots are on their springs?

So what can we learn from this, other than you've forgotten your original argument:
That all 3rd gens having the same swaybars and front springs !

Oh yes, and there was another tangent you went off on .. about "sport suspension" .. Well, if you can't read it in that screenshot there was a photo posted that should be very familiar to you, because it's pasted do your damned door!

You were proved wrong. Please just accept it and move on. TheMAN has admitted when he made a mistake, why can't you?

And don't forget ... you still owe TheMAN $100.00 as per your original statements.

I'll give TheMAN $100.00 if he can show me a set of OEM "smaller sway bars", or "softer" front Protege springs
Now, look closely at this image..

21 mm vs 22 mm and 15.9 mm vs 16 mm vs 17 mm may not seem like a big difference, but small changes have a big effect and the fact remains that they are not the same so .. you lose.

        Strike 1:
front springs and all sway bars are the same across the model
        Strike 2:
All sedans and the P5 share the same wheelbase, bushings, front springs, and both sway bars.
        Strike 3:
Again, they all (DX/LX/ES/P5) have the same front springs, and both sway bars (front and rear).
        Bonus Round:
Repeat after me, Both Sway Bars And The Front Springs Are All The Same Regardless Of Model/Trim/Body Style (except MP3 and Mazdaspeed Turbo).

I feel compelled to say it again.

Listen to what TheMAN has to say or be afraid, be very afraid. If you expose your ignorance to TheMAN he will smite thee untill you desist. Rejoice that TheMAN sees fit to correct your errant thoughts.

That door placard is from a 2003, (note the paint code ) I have a 2002, with no mention of "suspension type." While it is invisible to the naked eye, and even regular hand tools (specifically, and open-end, and an adjustable wrench) the two different sway bar part #'s are visually identical in shape, but indeed .004" different (that's "four one-thousanths of an inch" for the decimally challenged.) I've been completely civil all the way through this, despite being called names, even by members not even involved in the original disscussion. A quick glance at the much touted "Protege FAQ" reveals further errors, including no mention of a significant change made in 1996 on the 2nd Generations, but since I just race them successfully since the 1st generation Escort/Protege what do I know? The other thread is closed, as I hope this one is soon. Happy Bickering!

                  Excuse me HstockDXer,
This has gone on long enough, you have had one super moderator tell you to simmer down and that a thread you started and perpetuated was now a waste of time and the thread was closed.

I'm telling you to simmer down and relax.

The FAQ is the model update list is just watered down basic info, outlining only basic things people care about... like how the car looks, features, etc. I can't believe you stoop as low as to nit pick the FAQ You never give details as to what is wrong. "it's wrong" does not cut it for the FAQ. There is even a Disclaimer on the FAQ about the infomation! So here i'll let you in on a secret. i'm tired of reading your dribble where each argument is sent of on some time wasting tangent. Sit down, shut up, move on.
