Ok, I've got the OEM service manual and it's not covered as to how on earth do you remove the horizontal grill support without damaging the front grill????

I don't know if it makes much difference which model/year you have, but I have a '03 ES. It took me a while to figure it out, but basically, the entire grille came out by just popping the supports with a big screwdriver!
Just be really careful not to force the issue...apply steady pressure and don't try to rip them out or you will break them off!'03 Sunlight Silver ES/5sp

I didn't understand your post. If you're talking about removing the horizontal grill piece in order to modify the air intake system, you won't find the info in the FSM. This is a DIY mod. For an explanation, go to:Originally posted by StockFS

yep, thats a good article. i did that at first and noticed a slight improvement. i got bored tho and started experimenting and took everything after the filter box off. has a little more throttle reponse and sounds pretty good now. i got the same gains (minimal) and sound of a cai for free.2002.5 protege dxComment
