    removing horizontal grill support wows.

Ok, I've got the OEM service manual and it's not covered as to how on earth do you remove the horizontal grill support without damaging the front grill????

Do I need to drop the front bumper?

I don't know if it makes much difference which model/year you have, but I have a '03 ES. It took me a while to figure it out, but basically, the entire grille came out by just popping the supports with a big screwdriver!
Just be really careful not to force the issue...apply steady pressure and don't try to rip them out or you will break them off!

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I have '02 LX. I'm going to try to get some COLD air into my stock intake...

I didn't understand your post. If you're talking about removing the horizontal grill piece in order to modify the air intake system, you won't find the info in the FSM. This is a DIY mod. For an explanation, go to:

yep, thats a good article. i did that at first and noticed a slight improvement. i got bored tho and started experimenting and took everything after the filter box off. has a little more throttle reponse and sounds pretty good now. i got the same gains (minimal) and sound of a cai for free.
