    Fuel Economy with A/C

    Hi guy's
I did a search and didn't find any thing in specific. I drive a '95 dx protege (1.5L) w/149,000 mi on it. I put regular octane gas (88 or something like that) and get about 200 mi to the tank with the a/c on 90% of the time. I drive in a rural area with curvy mountain roads. It doesn't vary much when I'm on the high way I get 20mi more. I'm not a lead foot or anything.
    Is that a good average?
    How big are our tanks?

    thanks

When I make my weekend trips of ~ 210 miles on a full tank I still have about 3/8 of a tank left. It sounds like your A/C is robbing you of a lot of mileage.

I have a 98 Pro DX 1.5L w/ 91000 miles and here's the data for my cars year:

    Fuel Tank Capacity: 14.5 gal.

    EPA Mileage Estimates: (City/Highway)
    Manual: 30 mpg / 37 mpg
    Automatic: 25 mpg / 32 mpg

    Range in Miles: (City/Highway)
    Manual: 435 mi. / 537 mi.
    Automatic: 363 mi. / 464 mi.

I guess this would also apply to your car. I don't know what mazda changed in terms of fuel related issues from 1995 to 1998 edition of the pro.
