This is my first visit to the site.
Last week I attempted to change the timing belt on my 97 protege 1.5L. Well, I got as far as the crankshaft bolt and when I couldn't get that off, I quit. I replaced the other two belts on my way back. The result of all this: I finally got the check engine light to work! It's been shining bright ever since. I still need to get the code read, but what could I have screwed up? Could it be that the belts are too loose/tight? One was loose for a day, but I tightened it. Any ideas?
