    New Guy with some questions

I just bought a 88 323 with a Escort GT BP swap. Has GTR intake manifold, b6t exhaust manifold with a mx6 turbo, factory mx6 injectors, mx6 intercooler, and factory 2g dsm fuel pump. The car still has stock na exhaust so that is something I definately need to get. It is running 8psi and it seems like it is running good.

I can't seem to find what is the stock compression of these motors. Also how much boost are you turbo guys running and how much do you have your base timing set at. I read about the RX7 VAF. I happen to have a Turbo FC vaf right here. When you install that obviously it changes the tune etc but just plugging it in will it make the car run richer or leaner?

Compression ration for the DOHC BP is 9.0:1
My experiences with the RX7 VAF was a lean mixture, but that was with the na RX7 VAF.
Once my swap is done, I plan on running at about 10psi. Not sure what most people are running, but I know of at least one person here who is running 20+ psi on a GTR motor. Factory specs on the timing is 9 - 11 degres.

Does anybody here run a Apexi AFC. If so does anybody have the ecu pinout that they used to install it?

Thanks for the quick response Marc.

limpgtx would be the one to talk to on that, he is/was running an apexi safc. There was a thread on this, but I can't find it now.

        edit:
        found the thread -- http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/show...ighlight=apexi

I think the 90-91 Protege BP motor has a slightly lower compression of 8.8:1
The RX-7 VAF is a nice addition but to run it at its full potential you'll need to tune it properly. Here's a thread that might give you a basic idea of what's involved in the job:

yeah that is a great article but it only really tells you what it is doing at idle. I'm more interested in a overall answer if a rx7 maf will make the car run richer or leaner overall without touching it.

I doubt the car will even start without tuning the VAF. If it does, it will be a really rough idle as the car will most likely run really lean. You'll need to dyno tune it for maximum gains.

I'm guessing it is a B6T exhaust manifold. It is definately not aftermarket and it also has a different intake manifold. I will take pictures Saturday morning.

Did a compression test tonight. Got 180 across the board with only a couple rotations, I'm sure if I left it it would have gone higher but definately all is good. One thing though is if I put it at 10base timing the car will just not go, it seems like it gets extremely rich above 4k, put it back to around 14 and the car runs strong at 9-10psi. Pulled the plugs directly after a run well into fourth gear and they where perfect.

                      Weird.

Bastard. You beat me to it. That jumped right out at me when I saw it.
It isn't a b6t exhaust manny. The BP is a Physically larger engine as we all know. It wouldn't bolt up, you've probably got the BPT manifold.

It rained all day here till about 7 or so and finally dried up. We had a local midnight drags event and I went. This morning I put on my exhaust it is 2.5" downpipe with 3" flex back crush bent. Also added 12:1 FMU. 11psi and 93 octane.
