What type pf combo is good to run on a street pro? I have a upper strut bar on the way, and would like to get a front lower tie bar from mazdaracer, so my question is this: How much would it benifit to add a rear strut bar and a rear lower tie bar. I think I will try to find a mx-3 rear tie bar in a j.y. Would that be a good idea? Also with the sway bars. The 92 lx has a 21mm rear bar correct? So would it be a good idea to put a zx2 front bar on? And the zx2-is that the 96-99 escort- that every one keeps mentioning? Thank you for your help.

From what I've read, yeah, it has a 21mm (not sure if its hollow or solid, it seems to vary). ZX2's are fords but have the same chassis design as the Protege (its a mazda design that ford borrowed). They were made from 97-present (yup, they still sell em).
A strut tower bar isn't going to "increase" the handling potential of your car, but you will notice the car feel more stable in turns & increases the rigidity of the chassis. Some people will tel you that your handling WILL increase, but from my experience with STB's, you won't actually be able to pull faster times in autocrosses with just STB's. Swaybars, on the other hand, do affect the suspesion and can induce oversteer (or understeer) which can help you get better times.
The MX-3 swaybar WILL NOT fit your car, their endlinks are 180 degrees offset to the Protege's. You can use any 91+ ford Escort, ZX2 or 90-94 Protege/323 swaybar. I wish someone would compile a comprehensive database about the swaybar sizes from year to year on these vehicles b/c there are a LOT of sizes available.
As for the lower tiebar, I noticed no difference when I installed mine on my Protege. It made the ass-end look cool, but that was about it.93' Noble Green MX-ZE (sold )
