    Mazda Premacy

Here's our family vehicle, a Mazda Premacy. Only available in Japan and Europe. We had to get one of these cuz we couldn't all fit in my little NEO once our daughter got too big for her infant seat. I ALMOST resorted to trading in my NEO for a larger vehicle, but decided against it at the last minute. SO glad I didn't!

Looks nice Neo! What's under the hood? Oh, and is that your antenna on the driver's side bumper?

Not a bad van. It's cool to see other vehicles from different counties.

Now, is it my imagination, or do those headlights look identical to those found in the Protege sedans?

Edit: I just realized that the corner markers are separate from the headlight housing, thusly, the lights are different.

Thanks, beachnut. It's got a 1.8l FP-DE motor (I think that's the same engine as in the first 3rd gen 1.8s) with 130. Deosn't seem like much for a body that size, but it's got good mid-range torque and the revs climb real easily. Effortless driving, even with 7 on board.

Oh yes, that thing on the bumper. Nope, not an antenna. It's a guide pole, common in Japan for determining where exactly the opposite-front corner is for maneuvering in tight spaces, which is where much of every-day driving is done. There's just no elbow room here. That's why all the mirrors fold-up at a touch of a button for parking, too.

Actually, despite the lack of space door dings are pretty rare. People here are very respectful of eachother. Besides, dinging someone else's door with your own door means damaging your own door. It works out that way when everyone drives a thin-sheet-metal Japanese car.

I read somewhere lately that Mazda is planning to import the Premacy here to North America in acouple of years. I think it looks like a MPV at Protege5 size... I like the color of it!!

US Postal Service employees can buy the right hand drive Subie wagons to deliver the mail with. Mu aunt has 2 of these.

I hear ya. It's really tempting. There's some great parts available for the Premacy, too. But I need to keep the cash for working on my REAL car.
