If you guys watched channel 7 news tonight at 10pm you might have seen a report on a car in a lake. This happened at the entrance to my community and i was there watching when they were pulling the car out.

This was saturday early morning. I was coming home from our unofficial meet in sunrise and i see a cop car heading in the same direction. When i got to the entrance of the community there were 14 cop cars that i could count (in total there were about 20) and fire rescue was allready on the scene. i parked my car at home and walked to see whats going. eye witnesses said a car went into the lake. i walked behind one of the buildings with our security guard to get a better view. divers were in the water allready searching for people. 1 person was allready pullled out according to people and he did not appear alive.

anyways, i am making this too long but the news crews came, a helicopter did circles overhead with a spotlight. the car was completely submerged you couldn't see it at all (but it was also dark, 2am). finally the tow truck came and they started pulling the car out. my heart sank when the spoiler showed up above the water. it was a silver protege5. i'll post the pics once i get them developed.
the driver,the only person in the car, 21 year old guy, died. cops are looking for a chevy that either hit him or i think he was racing.

Please drive safely. We all drive fast including myself but please think before you decide to race or do any other stupid ****. i don't want to see the scene i have seen again. Please be especially considerate of fellow members and think about yourself and consequences when we go on our road trip. we will be very far from home so we don't need any surprises.

I don't know if the kid was concious inside the P5, but that's also exactly why everyone who lives down here needs to have one of those Life Hammer things. My whole family has them (Rick Case Acura gave them to my parents for some promotion). There are so many canals around here & God forbid anyone ever goes in, one of these will save your life.

i got one of those hammers from them too. but the problem is finding it if it has flew across the car away from you. a year or so ago, there was a women that went into the canal of i75 i think and she actually had enought time to call 911 and tell them what the problem was but she did not have enough wits to open the door. she drowned before rescue got there.

florida does have an unbelievable amount of canals and lakes. on saturday while the divers were serching, there was an officer with a shotgun on the shore just in case. two years ago they did caught an aligator in that lake.

Yeah, its like a recessed blade, so it exerts pressure on the belt opposite of the blade

I've had to use on of those hammer thing-a-majig before. They are the goods. I keep one in my car because in Loxahatchee, where I live, every road has a canal on it. I flipped my 92' Dakota in many (3) of those canals. I'm kinda used to going in to them. The only thing that will keep you alive in this situation is not to panick.

as promised, here are the pics.

i know they suck. i used my dad's camera, and i didn't know how to properly set the flash. that's why shutter was on slow speed and hence the shake. again, this was on friday after our unofficial meet when i got home.

please make no mistake about this guys. this guy is DEAD at 21. he was drag racing and he is dead. ain't coming back again. so wake the f*ck up and use your brains whether you are speeding, racing, drinking or even talking on the phone while driving.

from the day pics you can see the tire tracks going straight into the tree. the car hit that tree, flipped according to the witnesses and the rest is history as is the guy. no life hammer was going to save him. btw, if you can't tell what kind of car that is, it is a PROTEGE5.

i hate seeing those flowers at the entrance to my community but then again, wakes me up every time i leave home. florida installs white round shields by the road side where somebody died. i assume there will be one here. again, what a reminder that will be even after the flowers are gone...
