    Tire Matching? Is it worth it?

    tires.com has tire matching. Here is a description of the system. Is it worth paying for?

    Does anyone work at a shop that does this?

    For that matter, what about their "certificates"

    It doesn't actually say what they're doing. Sounds like it could be BS though. . .

      It looks like there may be something to this. What Discount Tire calls ride matching seems to be equivalent to what Hunter (wheel balancers) calls Force Matching and Balance.

      According to Hunter, "matching the stiff or high spot on the tire with the low spot on the rim cancels vibration caused by radial force variation and provides the smoothest ride."

            Goldstar hit it on the head pretty much. We dont do it at my shop (infact dont think anyplace around here does. I personaly think a static balance is enough.
