running the VAF after the turbo???

Well im gonna try and finish up mu turbo project, and with the turbo I have (T-bird IHI RHB5) the easiest way to run my intercooler piping is gonna be to run from the turbo to the intercooler, intercooler to the vaf, vaf to the intake manifold.

Is it absolutely necessary, or will I run into any problems if I run the VAF after, instead of before, the turbo? The reason I ask is because I have seen GTX set-ups and they all have the VAF before the turbo.

Another question I have is if there will be adverse reactions to running the BOV right before the intake manifold as opposed to before the VAF. I have heard from some that it will cause an extremely rich condition, as there is too much fuel not as much air as the VAF read, and cause the car to stall out, sputter, backfire, etc...
Then I have heard from others who have MX-6s that when they replace thier factory BPV with a BOV and relocate it after the VAF, before the intake manifold, they run into little to no problems. The biggest being an occasional backfire after letting off under HARD acceleration. If that is really the only drawback then I really wouldnt mind it, but anyways what are your guy's thoughts on these Qs?

    Thanks alot guys..

I was considering it also, but do you think the VAF would be able to hold psi? I'm trying to run 20 psi, dont u think that would damage something? You be the first one to try, I dont have an extra rx-7 VAF.

I dont have an extra also....being the first to try and it not working means that I'll have to get another turbo (or run dumb ass ic pipes) make a new manifold (maybe just a new flange) new vaf, and new intercooler pipes. So basically throwing away 500ish dollars for nothing.

I decided that the smartest thing to do is going to be to re-locate the VAF.
Thanks for trying to help limp, boost on the VAF probably would fubar things up.

as for the bov thing, limp and I can tell you that what the mx6 guys say is true, little to no problems. I experienced my first backfire last night after letting off when i was boosting at high rpm. So ya don't bother recirculating it.

Allright thanks for the help. I know one of the guys over on mx6.com is hell-bent on trying to get people not to do it.

SAme here with the bov but only sufer the backfire when i'm at the 1/4 without the exhaust on, with the exhaust on i've never had any trouble with backfire but that may be cause i have a really restrictive exhaust to make has little noise has i'm able, don't won't to be spoted by the cops for nothing

Every turbo car ive seen that ran a air flow sensor always had it on the intake pipe to the turbo. So I dont think anyone should put it on a charge pipe cause you'll get improper pressure readings causing the car to run lean and do some damage
