    B4 you purchased your Mazda...

What cars did you look for b4 finally layin your hands on a Mazda?

I did went scavengin hunt for:

    Eagle Talon

Most had blown engine, or almost dead tranny or some sort of ECU problem.

    SE-R

Changed my mind after I found out how difficult is to find spare engines.

    RX-7 Turbo II

Findin a good one is almost next to impossible, and I was never there at the right time, at the right place to buy one. Always someone was 3 seconds ahead and would purchase it.

    Supra Turbo second gen

Had one but buyin parts cost an arm and a leg, sold it right away.

until finally stumbled into my humble 323 and after that it was swap it at first sight.jejeje!

    Civc, accord.
Didn't even like my car the first timeI saw it.
Looked at it for like 3 seconds and turned away.
Drove it a week or so later and was hooked.

I wanted a 91-92 accord coupe, just looking for something sporty, i got tired of putting so many miles on my truck so wanted a nice small car. I saw the car on the corner about two blocks away from my house and test drove it....like midnight said, I was hooked, the way it pulled was awesome and I love the look and feel of the interior. Very happy with my purchase...

Seriously considered a SVT focus. Unfortuneately my tour went out on me when there was still about 4 months before the new models came back in (the first generation of them was already sold out around here) Also looked at a Mazda 6 4cyl.

When I went car shopping I was looking for a truck. I was a bit naieve on the whole car scene and didn't really have anything in particular in mind, just wanted something that drove. It's a funny story. I wanted a truck (S10) but all of the trucks on the lot were manuals and I didn't klnow how to drive one. So we looked at some of the cars and the protege screamed buy me. (I fell in love with the sunroof, tinted windows, and the overall look of the car). The lot was closed so we came back the next day for a test drive and when I got in I was like, ****! It's a manual! So my dad drove and I had a few go's at it and eventuall decided to buy it. I didn't even get to drive it home, my dad did. LOL I bought a car I didn't even know how to drive! I learned though and it turned out wonderfull.

Focus, Civic, Kia Spectra, Toyota Echo, Jeep Wrangler and used VW Corrados.
I'd still love to have a Jeep, but I think I made the right choice.

I was very specifically looking for a Corrado, a Probe, or and MX-6. And I didn't like my car much at first. It took about three weeks before I started looking at it thinking it looked good. And it wasn't until I realized it handled far better than a WRX I almost replaced it with that I really was fully satisfied... I'd had it for about six months by then.

Before I got my first car, the MX-3, I was looking at the jeep YJ, till I realized I wanted cornering and perfomance..lol. Than it was the CRX, but I had a friend who had one and I ended up in the back drunk with a few other people and realized I wanted something a tad bigger...lol. Then it was the Corrado which I still drool over to this day. But I settled for my Precidia. Before the Protege5, I was looking at the Matrix and Tibouron but the Protege5 won my heart!!! I think it's one SEXY bitch!!!

I wanted something boxy, early 90's under $3k, automatic (i kind of regret that now)...

I was looking at civics, accords, sentras, etc... all those early 90's small cars...
mostly because i wanted a good replacement for my 86 accord.

nothing really fit my criteria (power everything, sunroof, white, red or black, some other stuff) and stayed under the price range.
i needed a new car asap, and i was getting a bit disheartened, until my mom suggested '...maybe one of those uh... mazda proteges or something'
sure enough, autotrader, white, lx, $3k, within 20 miles...
I bought it that day for $2.5k

I actually bought a S-10 before the protege... I was in the same position you were. Had no clue on how to drive a stick, except for dirt bike experience as a child. (it had been years since I rode a dirt bike) Anyways... there's only one way to learn..."ain't nothing to it...but to do it"

I went knowing i was getting a civic, but it had to be something called dohc (had no idea what it ment, bro just told me) after going thru 9 car lots, the pro was the only car that was deemed exceptable by my dad, passed up a mx6 and a mx3 because they were ugly inside

I actually wanted to get a Miata first. I love them to death but then decided on the pro because it was the most practical car (considering that i needed more space because of college). Aside from that, the pro handles like a Miata and is very efficient. I also looked into a 323, but that was also kinda small. I know they were both Mazdas but I definitely wanted a Mazda from the getgo.
