    High milage oil

Does anyone user this high milage oil? The commercials say to start using after 70k miles, but i dont put much stock into their commercials Everything i've learned in automotives goes against the thought that an oil could restore power to your engine, or compression, but has anyone tried this stuff? Notice any difference?

I'm at 107k miles so I just thought I'd ask, maybe use the high milage stuff for the next change...

i've been using the quaker state high mileage oil, which is supposed to reduce oil getting burnt and supposedly improves performance. my 91 323 has 85,000 miles and the high mileage oil hasn't hurt, so i figure why not use it.

the thought has occured to me, since I'm getting close to "high mileage," I'll probably ask my mechanic next oil change.

As long as your car does not burn oil, and none is leaking, just stick with whatever you have been using. 75K is just a good way to market the product, its not something everyone must believe.

proper maintenence specified from the manufacturer is all your car needs

change your oil at the proper intervals, with the recommended viscosity from mazda, using a genuine mazda oil filter, and you will be just fine
you dont necessarily even need to use a "mazda" oil filter, i just do for piece of mind

as cable mirc said, 262000 miles on standard oil, and it goes just fine

I've read an oil quality study a few years back...one thing that left an impression was the high paraffin content of Quaker State and corresponding low ranking.
Obviously the synthetics did best but the top conventional oil was Castrol GTX.

what about that CDC stuff (i think thats what its called), it comes in a siver cylindrical canister and you're supposed to add it every oil change and supposedly it restores compression. what do you think of that?
