My brother owns a 99 Protege and he recently took it into the DMV for an inspection. Turns out he failed it because the "readiness monitors" were not set on the car. The guy gave him a pamphlet saying it usually occurs when the battery was disconnected or the car was brought in for maintenence recently. But he says he hasn't done anything to the car for the past 6 months. It also said it just usually sets after a couple days of driving if the stuff above has happened, anyone got any idea on how to fix this?
It's part of the OBDII testing.
