My turn to tell my stories

Back in 2010 I live in Fort Lauderdale and worked in West Palm Beach, so i travel 50mi each way to work, so i drove my 323hb dubbed "The ****box" back and forth to work so save on fuel.

Still sporting my b6 and 5spd. The car was excellent. I had always planned on doing a bp swap just never had the money. I drove this car everywhere.ni had owned it for 7yrs at this point. I bought it, with a lowly 82k. One day going home from work almost home I hear a rattle. Sound like exhaust hitting the body. I tell myself ill check it out at work tomorow on a rack. Next morning i head to work, i make it 10mi from home when my rattle gets louder. Let off the throttle noise goes away. Get in the throttle noise returns "hmm". Well i gotta get to work hopefully its nothing major. I cruze on for another minute and the car starts to miss. All of a sudden temp gauge rockets to full hot, shakes violently. All lights come on and shuts off. Now on the middle of I95 i coast to the shoulder. On the shoulder I try and restart I get nothing. Call AAA and record my mileage as exactly 200,000. Have the car towed to work were I suspect I broke a rod, or a piston. I tear into the engine removing cylinder head first and find nothing wrong. I proceed to remove the engine and rip it apart. Here is what I find.

Well now is no better time then bp swap. Went to the junkyard and pull me a bp. The swap went pretty easy no issues. I reused my f-series trans and original 200k clutch. Everything went pretty good for the next few years. Took the car to the track a few times, got to race against a MP4 12C, ZL1 camaro, Nissan GTR. Needless to say i lost all those races but it was fun. (I have videos if anyone is interested). Many long trips to Nashville to visit family and a normal life. Forward to summer of 2013. I take a grueling 4000mi round trip from WPB to Nashville to canada and back. On my trip back from nashville 10mi from florida in georgia, my car starts to misfire. I pull off and find the nearest auto parts store. Do alil diagnosing and figure maybe a bad plug. Swap the plugs for a fresh set, no change. I have 1 dead cylinder. What to do, im 500mi from home. I do what any sensible man would do I drive on. I get home with no further issues except for 1 dead cylinder and poor mpgs lol. I continue driving my car like so for 3 months due to not having time or another vehicle to drive. I start to collect another bp and rebuild it to have a quick swap to reduce down time. Proceed to swap out my busted bp for a fresh bp and tear down my old one.

While I had the engine out I replaced the core support due to a bent lower support from when I bought the car.

Fresh out of the shop, on a lunch date with my wife we go to Jupiter and go have lunch. As we leave the restaurant a lady on the phone pull out in front of me and I t-bone her. With less then 30mi on my rebuilt front end and engine I total the car. Bent both front rails, pass rail touching the power steering pump pulley.

Well saddened by my loss, I have the car straightened, and I sell it to my brother, it just wont do for me. I score a deal local to me and pickup another 323hb that I am almost done kl swapping.

The name lives on. Thats the end of my stories

heh. Here's what I had on the back of my GTX rallycar, right before I ended up on a tree at Oregon Trail in '06. My codriver had the decal made up after we overheard someone telling their pal that "that car came in 4th overall" and the guy said "what, that ugly POS, really?"
    Attached Files
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.
