    MS1 random killing...I'm stumped.

I built and installed my MS1 with extra YEARS ago. It's been running great...sold the car...bought it back...random shut down....WTF!!! I sold it to a friend of mine and he didn't even fiddle with the tune.

It'll run for anywhere from 5 to 30 mins then just shut down. I still have power to U5 the entire time but the LEDs even go out. Then about 10 sec to 1 min later...back on. I'm 99% it isn't the grounds. There is less than 1ohm from headlight to taillight. I've even run power straight off the battery to a hard switch and fuse, and grounded it right back to the battery.

I caught it in a log but there was no anomalies... running fine then off.

    I'm ideas...

Well it's not the grounds! I put the ms on my stim and it did it! I didn't have the log running like a dumb ass but I'm gonna try again with the log recording.

    As a side note...
I have the stim running a 12v 5amp power supply.

12.6v at power in on stim
    11.6v on the 12v side of U5
and the "battery voltage" gauge on MegaTune bounces between 12.24 and 12.35

I think I might have found it! After letting it sit on the stim for over a hour, I was feeling around for hot spots and D19 was hot enough to remove some skin. So I'm gonna replace D19, D21 And U5 for good measure. We'll see...

I THINK I GOT IT!!! I ended up replacing D19 (the hot one) U5 (started gettting to warm in testing) and C22 cuz someone told me I should. It lasted about 45mins then smoked the cap but after some investigation I put it in backwards. So I put the old one in and it been running on the stim for over a hour now. NO ISSUES!!!

No, it can be good for the trace to keep heating and pulling like that. So I'm just going to let it be. I'll try it on the car this weekend. Hopefully it'll be back on the road next week.

WIN! Over an hour idling with no issues. Thinkin maybe an oil change, call to the insurance lady and she go for some test flights.

Congrats on figuring it out, I'm sure it feels good to be able to get back into it.
