I know some of the miatas had lightweight wheels, do a search for wheel weights, there are some links to sites w/ weights in other threads.

I got some '99-00 15x6 Miata alloys, the 5 spoke, for when I was still running H-Stock. They are the same size/offset as the 15X6 Protege 3rd gen wheel. I was told before purchasing that they weighed 10-12 pounds depending on who I talked to. When I got them I weighed one. They are 13.6 pounds each. Still decent, but not "10 pounds" alas. I saw a posting about the '99-00 ES/'01-02 LX 5 spoke alloy quoting 17 LBs each.

Rota makes some cheap ($$) 10 pound wheels called "Slipstream", and Enkei makes the RPF1, about 9 lbs and expensive as sh*t. Other lightweights: SSR Competition, anything by Volks (VERY MUCHO $$$$$), Konig Helium

Azenis are very heavy tires indeed. The Hoosier autocross tires are so much lighter, and more expensive, and faster to wear out. It sucks.

i dont know what they look like anymore. i use to have a website bookmarked with detailed text of the various miata wheel pictures and their weights, and i remember the hollowspokes are 14x6 and weigh 9lbs.

compared to my current factory alloys that weigh 14lbs, if i went with 9lb miata wheels i would save 80lbs of rotating mass. sounds tasty to me.

o got the 91 miata rims w/ azenis and weigh 'em last night. 30lbs/wheel which is not bad considering the civic hx w/ 185/60 weighed 29lbs. Its only 1 lb difference and i have 195/60 and its azenis...men, wut a big difference it made on my 1st and 2nd gear...
