That's a great point jon, a lot of the time we don't realize the side effects modifications have aside from the obvious.

I've been working on all of the parts needed for a bp-05 turbo set-up with minimal fabrication for a while and I think that I am really close. Can someone please tell me what else I need?
Parts list:
GTX ECU (bp-26) I don't have the patience or time for tuning and I wont be running that much boost anyways
GTX exhaust manifold
VJ-20
GTX fuel injectors
Custom downpipe with separated wastegate flow joining the rest of the exhaust just before the catalyst. Ideally it would start out of the turbo at a 15 degree megaphone shape until it reaches 3-inch diameter and continue through...
3-inch exhaust stainless steel with...
3-inch inlet and outlet muffler and catalyst
GTX oil pump, more oil pressure than the n/a oil pump and turbos like oil
GTX air flow meter
Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC)
Intercooler Piping, stainless, mandrel-bent held together with couplers because I can't weld. I'm unsure of the diameter i should use...I know that the airflow velocity in the piping should stay less than 250 ft/sec. I am unsure of the outlet of the vj-20
GTX oil pan, built-in oil return and ?more capacity?
GTX throttle body, four-wires so that it will produce a signal that the bp-26 ECU knows what to do with
Bypass-valve and tubing, mounts after intercooler and is returned to before the intercooler; BOVs are for ricers
Oil and coolant lines for the turbo, I haven't found where there oil send, coolant send, and coolant return go. I would really appreciate pictures.
323 GTR ?BP-c8? intake. Flows better than the GTX
Lightened GTX flywheel either machined and aftermarket. I am unsure of the options.
OEM GTX clutch and pressure plate
Walbro 255 liter per hour fuel pump, turbo'ed engines like fuel
Boost gauge

modify wires 1H (wastegate solenoid valve) 1i (fuel pump resistor relay) 2J (knock control unit) 2M (Throttle sensor) 2Y (Circuit opening relay) and possibly 2R (turbocharge indicator) 2S (overboost warning buzzer).

I think that this should bring me close to 200 wheel horsepower at 10.5 psi and will cost in the neighborhood of $1200 to $1300. Is this all correct?

wow! thats gotta be the best first post ever :D congrats! welcome to clubprotege
to answer a few questions:
you can get the knock sensor and knock control box from a probe/mx6/626 2.2 turbo. same sensor, same control box.
there is a debate about intercooler pipe size in this forum somewhere i believe. basically 2"-2.25" should be fine for a vj20, but go straight for 2.5" if you plan to upgrade to a larger turbo later on. thats the general concensus it seems.
as far as the oil/coolant feeds and returns. take a look at the front of your block, right near where it bolts to the trans. theres a small plug like 1" from the seam w/ the transmission, that is the oil feed. there is a larger plug a few inches up and to the left, thats your coolant return. the coolant feed comes from a nipple on the metal heater pipe that runs across the front of the block below the exhaust manifold. you can either add a nipple to your stock one, or get a gtx one, OR get one from a B8 sohc protege. apparantly they have an extra nipple in the right spot.
you dont really need 3" exhaust for the vj20, 2.5" should be plenty. but like the IC piping, if you plan to upgrade later theres nothing wrong with 3" right off the bat . check out the gtx downpipe that corksport.com sells, its an excellent piece. however, if you want to build custom i have a flange for sale . i also have a turboxs bypass valve for sale

it's actually sort of my dad's car (don't laugh at t3h noob) lol
but he doesn't like posting on forums terrible much so I do research/forumming for him. I love t3h protege though and i want to buy one when I get the money.

um 200whp? Not on that setup.
Stock boost makes 180 BHP. Dyno's ~150 to the wheels. The setup you have listed on the stock ECU and stock boost will flow better than stock pushing up the boost... but probably not enough to find a 33% increase in power.
Looks like a good setup so far.
I have a JDM GTX knock sensor sitting by (not used since I switched to MSnS) if interested.

its somewhere between 8 and 9. the stock wastegate tends to boost creep pretty easily anyway though.

so everything I have there plus the coolant nipple, knock sensor and control box, and (forgot to mention these earlier) colder spark plugs.
Now all I need to do is convince him to go turbo...Fast, cheap, reliable: pick two.
