It will make noises after awhile if it's anything like my friends ep3. Hers makes clicking and rattling noises. she has 98k on the clock.

electric power steering is awful if you like steering feel.

the new Corolla in particular feels a lot like the old Super Off-Road arcade game...

i think there is a big difference in the steering described in the article and what people today call "electric power steering"

i think most current "electric power steering" systems are really just hybrids. they use an electric motor to pump the hydraulic fluid instead of the crankshaft. it's electro-hydraulic power assisted steering (EHPAS)

what the article is describing is no fluid, no pump.

allllsoo electric corolla steering feels just like non electric corolla steering (if not better) except it can give much more boost at parking lot speeds so turning from lock to lock is much easier and faster. i think what the steering feels like really all depends on what kind of car it is.

            Just as me19875 states.

The Mazda3, for example, uses Electro Hydraulic Power Assist Steering by employing an electric power steering oil pump. IMO the power steering in the 3 works just as well as that in my Protege which uses a belt driven power steering oil pump, with the additional advantage that it eliminates the friction HP consumed by the mechanically-driven pump (BHP = IHP - FHP).

            Happy Motoring!
