    Hey Guys,

For those of you that have installed an MSD BTM, do you have the wiring diagrams? I bought my box used and have no diagrams.

    Thanks

the colors maybe off, but it also says what the color wire goes to/is so you can do it on your own app.

pdf for instructions... I know its for a SOHC civic, but again should be close.

From small block street cruisers to 10000 horsepower top fuel dragsters, MSD's ignition systems has been the industry leader for over 40 years. MSD continues to push the envelope with cutting-edge ignition technology as well as intake manifolds and EFI systems.

Nice. Does a general one work for our cars like an Safc or a turbo timer, or did you get a mazda BG specific one?

they arnt even in the same ball park as either of thos....it increases the amout of spark the coil sends to the disty thus making the spark plugs burn up to 7times hotter ignighting ALL the gass in the cylinder creating a bit more hp......they are wonderfull devices.....my best friend has 1 on his mustang and i put it on my protege for testing and it makes a world of difference....

"The 6 BTM is ideal for engines with a turbo or supercharger. Not only will the engine benefit from MSD’s full power CD sparks, but there is also an adjustable boost/timing retard circuit to prevent detonation.
When your supercharger (turbo or blower) forces the air/fuel ratio into the engine, the cylinder pressure inside the combustion chamber increases. The result is a great amount of power but this can also lead to detonation which can result in severe engine damage. The 6 BTM lets you dial away detonation by retarding the timing in relation to the boost pressure. By electronically controlling the ignition timing your engine can run on the threshold of detonation to obtain maximum power and efficiency.
The BTM features a dash mounted control knob that lets you adjust the amount of timing retard. It can be adjusted from 0° per pound of boost to 3° per pound. The boost pressure is monitored by a sensor built into the MSD.
The 6 BTM also shares the Soft Touch Rev Control of the 6AL Ignition for overrev protection. The BTM is supplied with rubber shock mounts and rpm modules for 3,000, 6,000, 7,000 and 8,000 rpm. "

this specific model increses spark and allows the driver to retard the timing at the turn of a knob...

I know they are not the same ballpark. It was a metaphor to relate the msd box to other more commonnly known items.

my msd box is not the 6BTM ... it is this one: http://www.msdignition.com/tc_18.htm

So for me, I am using the existing ignition on my car - I am not getting an MSD ignition coil

It is basically the same one redfox quoted, just the older model and without the RPM feature
