I want to change out my transimissoin oil and replace my oil pan gasket because it leaks... So if anyone could get me the basics and some pictures on what im doing that would be great. Where to drain it out? How many bolts there are to change out the oil pan gasket? and Where to add new gearoil?... O ya is it right to buy 80w-90 about 3 quarts... well the reason im doin this is because it leaks and my gears are gettin tight when i shift into gears... How much will be a transmission oil pan gasket??? Thanks help would be great...

ATF is the reccomended fluid not gear oil... you CAN use either but atf is better for cooling which is a problem in BG transmissions as well as many other cars.---Has ClubProtege helped you in someway? show your support by Contributing--- Click Here---

may be better for cooling, but it has NO shock absorbtion factor..."Never run out of real estate, traction & ideas at the same time"

Red Line synthetic ATF oils can be used for M/T's when one is looking for improved cooling. It's probably not optimal for synchros, however. Both Red Line D4 ATF and Red Line High-Temp ATF provide a GL-4 level of gear protection. Recall that the API GL rating is a measure of the extreme pressure (EP) additives in the oil. Since the M/T calls for either a GL-4 or GL-5 rated oil, this means that the same level of EP additives are contained in Red Line D4 as are recommended in a normal M/T oil for the Protege. Thus, Red Line ATF should give the same level of shock protection as Red Line MT-90.

This may be the case with other brands of ATF's also but you'll have to check that out for yourselves.02 DX Millenium Red - The Penultimate Driving Machine

15/16 or 23mm wrench/socket on the big ass bolt on the undersid eof the transmission to drain the fluid.... fill it from the speedometer gear hole.... get a hose & funnel. a ten metric holds the speedo gear in place make sure to take that out ad give it a slight twist to break it loose to help in removal.... do not try to pry it out.---Has ClubProtege helped you in someway? show your support by Contributing--- Click Here---

if you remove the spedo gear first it will help drain the fluid faster as the air will have a way to enter the transmition....91 323 GTX @ 16psi, 5 speed || December 07 R.O.T.M.

it depends on how fast you want it to come out
i stick a bucket under there and open the drain plug and come back 20 minutes later its all out by then.---Has ClubProtege helped you in someway? show your support by Contributing--- Click Here---
