Dunnow, i'm running 2.5" myself and it fits the stock location very nicely. ALthough if Escort91GTX is running 3" exhaust then he might have issues there. 3" on the 1.8" is oversized imho anyway. Unless he's pushing 250 to teh wheels.

Not to mention the whole idea is quite pointless. Other then the angled bling look and ability to scrape EVERYTHING this has no real performance benefits. On the 240s and skylines it just doesnt cause any problems and at least saves money on making just 1 45 degree bend instead of 2 90 degree ones.

the bigger exhaust fits, the stock way fine, but if you wanted to get rid of the extra curve that it takes before it goes to the muffler...like aftermarket companies make, than why not run it under the rear sway bar. runnin the exhaust like that on any car will scrap it if yourcar is low enough Get a skid plate made for the lowest point aon your exh, and problem solved. By deleting the final curve that the exhaust on our cars takes, it obvious will improve exh flow. Ive seen a aftermarket tilted greddy/hks/ etc.. whatever scrape on civics/240's/supras/corrollas. its just one of those things that happens.

Well you can scrape anything if you are low enough. Just saying that for the cars that don't have anything in the way, this is easily done and doesn't jeopardise anything. On the escort, you are decreasing the clearance by like 3" at least for some very questionable benefits. Again personal preference, and whatever you use the car for I definately won't be able to rallycross that car with exhaust hanging that low. The downpipe on my car comes out about .5" lower then the crossmember and i'm already weary about taking it to a rallycross without a skidplate :-/
